PURPOSE
|
|
Purpose
By preparing coffee and juice and utilizing the beverage cart that is stocked with cups, coffee creamer, sweetener and stir sticks, volunteers provide/serve beverages to veterans who come into the clinic. VA staff are also welcome to serve themselves. Clean up is an integral part of this position as well. Volunteers are expected to remain in the serving area to ensure that the operation runs smoothly. Volunteers also assist with evacuation when the need arises.

RESPON- SIBILITIES
|
|
Responsibilities
Volunteers are expected to be reliable, punctual, record volunteer hours, attend training sessions provided by Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service (VAVS) staff, practice good personal hygiene and fulfill the duties outlined in this position description. In a polite, professional manner, volunteers provide beverages to veterans while standing by to assist those who are unable to serve themselves.

Volunteers interface with VA staff to create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for veterans and their families.

QUALIFI- CATIONS
|
|
Qualifications
This position is ideal for those who have an interest in working directly with the public. Good interpersonal skills are a prerequisite as this position involves constant contact with veterans, family members/caregivers, volunteers and staff. The ability to sit and stand for several hours at a time, take direction and work with minimum supervision are also required.

COMMITMENT

Time Commitment
Volunteers are asked to commit to one three-hour shift per week from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
